Guisborough & North Yorkshire Moors

North Yorkshire Moors Visitors center - we learned how the Moors were man-made over centuries of grazing and cultivating plants for sheep and wildlife.  The moors have three types of heather: Common or ling, cross-leaved, and bell.
Crossing the moors one sees wildlife and sheep grazing by the road.

The park has a pleasant walk by the River Eck with fun things for the family to do.

As we headed home we stopped for dinner in Guisborough  whose marketplace was granted in 1263 by Henry III... this is the market cross and where John Wesley preached in 1760.

We had Indian cruisine overlooking the market cross.

  1. We just read The Secret Garden so naturally we looked up pictures and learned about The Moor. I can't wait to show this kids this post in the morning. They will be so excited.
