Castle Howard-Magnificent 18th century

Castle Howard is one of the top ten greatest mansions in the world.  It is not a castle, but is called a castle because the Howard Family tore down the original castle and used the stone to build this beautiful home.
Even the stone garden house was lovely.
Roses bloomed profusely in the gardens.
There were acres of hedges and flowers and blooming shrubs.
The ornamental vegetable garden was spectacular.

The gardens at Castle Howard are the very finest we have seen in England.
We continued our walk around the lakes.
We sat overlooking the lake and shared our picnic with the ducks.

We toured the home..... We are related to the Howard Family (Fuller side) through Lady Katherine Howard whose father was Sir John Howard, Duke of Norfolk, Knight of the Garter (1420-1485).
