Bowes Museum

This looks like something out of the movies. Mr. Bowes, a wealthy industrialist, married a French actress. They lived in France and collected art. Their collection was sent back to England to their newly constructed home. They both died before they saw it. Having no children, their "home" became a museum.

This lovely, formal garden was in front of that incredible building.

Thousands of red begonias filled the beds.
