Bishop Auckland Castle Entrance to Grounds and Park

This castle belongs to the Bishops of Durham who lived here until recently.

It was closed on Saturdays so we did not get to tour inside.  They sponser musical performances to welcome visitors and view the magnificant painting inside.
This is the Bishop Auckland Castle Deer House. Built in 1760 in the Gothic Revival style, it was a shelter for deer  and used by the Bishops/royalty for outting and picnics to watch the deer.
